UPS Industrial Services is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex electrical construction and engineering projects across industrial, commercial, energy, and infrastructure markets. The successful candidate will provide overall project leadership from pre-construction through commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations and company standards.
This role requires extensive electrical project management experience, strong financial acumen, exceptional leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead large-scale electrical construction and engineering projects valued from several million to over $100 million.
- Oversee all phases of project execution including planning, estimating support, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts.
- Monitor project performance and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, codes, and quality standards.
- Drive issue resolution and decision-making to maintain project objectives.
- Develop, manage, and forecast project budgets, cash flow, labor productivity, and profitability.
- Review and approve project costs, change orders, billing, and subcontractor payments.
- Analyze financial performance and implement corrective actions to achieve margin targets.
- Prepare and present project status reports to senior leadership and clients.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, owners, engineering firms, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while ensuring project satisfaction and repeat business opportunities.
- Lead progress meetings and executive-level project reviews.
- Negotiate contracts, change orders, and project scope modifications.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams including Project Engineers, Superintendents, Field Engineers, and subcontractors.
- Mentor and develop junior project management staff.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability across project teams.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, innovation, and operational excellence.
Safety & Quality
- Champion safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control processes are implemented throughout project execution.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practice implementation.
Business Development Support
- Assist with proposal development, project pursuits, estimating reviews, and pre-construction planning.
- Identify opportunities for additional work and strategic client growth.
- Participate in client presentations and project interviews.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10-15 years of electrical construction or electrical engineering project management experience.
- Minimum 5+ years managing large-scale industrial, commercial, power, data center, renewable energy, or EPC projects.
- Proven experience managing projects exceeding $20M-$100M+ in value.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems including:
- Medium and low-voltage power distribution
- Substations and switchgear
- Motor control systems
- Instrumentation and controls
- Industrial power systems
- Electrical commissioning and startup
- Experience with project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Advanced knowledge of contract management, project controls, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
- Demonstrated success leading project teams and delivering profitable projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
- Experience in EPC, industrial manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, utility, or renewable energy projects.
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NEMA, and applicable industry standards.
- Experience with design-build and EPC contracting models.
