Job summary

BESCO in the United States is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead commercial and industrial electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role requires keeping projects on track financially, operationally, and in the field while partnering closely with Superintendents, field leadership, customers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience managing electrical construction projects.
  • Experience with industrial electrical projects is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role with an electrical contractor preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction processes, project scheduling, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Experience with project estimating is a plus.
  • Completion of a nationally recognized electrical apprenticeship is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with field and office teams.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related project management software.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to identify problems before they become project issues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Project Execution: Manage multiple electrical construction projects from planning through successful completion.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and overall performance.
  • Review and understand contract requirements, project scope, and contractual obligations.
  • Participate in preconstruction, design coordination, budgeting, and estimating activities as needed.
  • Partner with the Superintendent and field leadership to ensure projects are properly staffed, scheduled, and resourced.
  • Monitor project progress against schedule, budget, quality standards, and specifications.
  • Identify potential issues early and develop solutions to keep projects moving forward.
  • Maintain accurate project budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Monitor costs, labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor performance.
  • Track progress and value earned and manage monthly project billing.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings.
  • Manage the change order process, including identifying, pricing, submitting, negotiating, and obtaining approval for changes in scope.
  • Work closely with Purchasing to plan and manage material procurement, equipment rentals, and subcontractor agreements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure materials, equipment, labor, and other resources are available when needed.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication throughout the project.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure appropriate safety training and practices are incorporated into project planning and execution.
  • Partner with field leadership to maintain compliance with project specifications, company standards, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor quality and address issues proactively before they impact the project.
  • Conduct regular project status and early-indicator meetings.
  • Clearly communicate project performance, risks, opportunities, and challenges to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Complete required project documentation, including daily reports, submittals, correspondence, and other project records.
  • Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor those risks throughout the project.
  • Calmly and professionally manage disagreements, conflicts, and unexpected challenges.
  • Lead the project closeout process and ensure all contractual, financial, operational, and documentation requirements are completed.
  • Work with internal and external partners to resolve outstanding issues and ensure a clean handoff.
  • Capture lessons learned and help position future projects for success.

What You’ll Do
Lead Project Execution

Physical & Working Requirements
  • Ability to walk and navigate an active construction site.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and occasionally stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including more than 40 hours per week, when project demands require.
  • Ability to work in varying construction-site conditions, including occasional wet or humid environments.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.
