Job summary

JLRD, Inc. in Florida seeks an Electrical Project Engineer to lead electrical design from schematic through construction administration, coordinating with disciplines and clients. This hands-on role requires independent engineering judgment and project ownership, with licensure path for a PE.

Based in West Palm Beach or Merritt Island and on-site, you will mentor junior staff, manage scope, schedule, and budget, and help maintain JLRD's technical standards while delivering high-quality projects.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) required.
• PE license or exam passed with licensure pending.
• 5+ years of electrical design in an MEP consulting environment.
• Experience with education, healthcare, government, commercial, institutional, or similarly complex project types.
• Proficiency with Revit MEP and power-analysis software.
• Strong project management, communication, client-facing, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
• Ability to exercise sound independent engineering judgment and take ownership of assigned projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage electrical design efforts on multiple concurrent projects from schematic through construction administration.
• Design power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm, low-voltage, emergency and standby power systems.
• Perform load calculations and studies using SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or equivalent software.
• Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and calculations.
• Verify NEC, NFPA, Florida codes compliance.
• Lead system-selection decisions and coordinate with BIM and permitting processes.
• Coordinate electrical design with Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Architectural, and Structural disciplines.
• Communicate with clients, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Monitor scope, schedule, and budget while tracking fee performance.
• Participate in site visits and project closeout.
