Job summary

JLRD Engineering seeks a Senior Electrical Designer to own electrical building-system design from concept through construction at our West Palm Beach or Merritt Island offices. You’ll lead power distribution and lighting design, coordinate with architects and engineers, and guide junior designers.

You’ll bring 5+ years in MEP electrical design, proficiency in Revit, and strong coordination skills to deliver complex projects in healthcare, education, and other demanding environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant electrical design experience in MEP/building systems.
• Strong experience designing electrical systems for commercial or institutional buildings.
• Proficiency with Revit and coordination with multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of electrical design for assigned projects and scopes.
• Develop electrical plans, details, schedules, and construction documents.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Electrical Designer, you'll take an active role in the design and delivery of electrical building systems from concept through construction.

You'll design and develop power distribution, lighting, emergency/standby power, and related electrical systems, while coordinating with electrical engineers, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, and other project disciplines.

You'll also have opportunities to:

• Take ownership of electrical design for assigned projects and scopes
• Develop electrical plans, details, schedules, and construction documents
• Perform electrical calculations and assist with system sizing and equipment selection
• Develop power distribution and lighting designs
• Coordinate electrical systems with other building disciplines
• Apply applicable NEC, NFPA, building, and energy-code requirements
• Participate in field investigations and document existing conditions
• Support construction administration, including submittals and RFIs
• Work directly with engineers, project managers, architects, and project teams
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to developing designers
• Contribute to JLRD's continued technical and organizational growth

What We’re Looking For

We’re more interested in demonstrated capability than checking every box.

Strong candidates will have:

• 5+ years of relevant electrical design experience in MEP/building systems
• Strong experience designing electrical systems for commercial or institutional buildings
• Proficiency with Revit
• Experience with power distribution and lighting design
• Working knowledge of the NEC and applicable building codes
• Ability to independently manage assigned design scopes
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills

An engineering or technical degree is valued, but demonstrated MEP electrical design capability and experience are equally important.

Experience That Would Be a Plus

You don't need to have all of these to be considered.

Experience with healthcare/AHCA, education, federal/government, aviation, mission-critical facilities, SKM/EasyPower/ETAP, Navisworks, emergency power, fire alarm, low-voltage/security systems, lighting controls, AGi32, or complex renovation projects would be especially valuable.
