The prospective candidate is well-versed in the roadway and area lighting, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and/or traffic signal design standards and requirements of the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (Illinois Tollway). They mentor and supervise the work of junior project staff. Additionally, this position supports various aspects of project management and electrical design tasks for lighting, ITS, toll collection facilities, renewable energy, electric vehicle service equipment, traffic signals, and other electrical related designs. This candidate prepares electrical models, plans, and schematics; performs electrical and lighting calculations; develops special provisions and estimates of cost; prepares technical reports; assists with or may lead the development of scope and fee proposals for basic to moderate complexity projects; assists with or may lead monitoring of project budget and staff assignments; and performs and may lead adherence to the firm’s quality procedures and QAQC reviews for project deliverables.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES – GENERAL**• Possesses understanding of foundational engineering concepts through work experience in transportation projects. • Acquires advanced knowledge and skills through mentored experience. • Evaluates and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment. • Performs work assignments of basic to moderate complexity. May act as discipline or project lead. May communicate progress to clients. • Independently manages time and schedule to achieve multiple project milestones. • Organizes and maintains project files.
