Farnsworth Group is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer in one of the locations listed below. In this role, qualified candidates will lead the day-to-day production of industrial, oil & gas, and other technically complex projects.


Posting Locations: Bloomington, Champaign, Lisle, Peoria, or Springfield, IL; Greenwood Village, CO (Denver Tech Center); and St. Louis, MO


Job Responsibilities:

  1. Manage multiple projects involving electrical design, including Power distribution, Lighting, Telecommunications, Controls, Renewable Energy Systems, and MV systems for industrial and oil & gas sectors.
  2. Engage in code research, fieldwork, preliminary schematics, calculations, equipment specification, layout, coordination, and preparation of electrical drawings and specifications.
  3. Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors, maintaining project budgets and schedules while ensuring quality.
  4. Mentor engineers, designers, and drafters; report to an engineering manager who provides professional growth opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Electrical engineer with 8-15 years of experience in complex system design.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering; PE license required.
  • Experience in industrial power, controls, and MV systems; proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NESC, and IEEE standards.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and pass background checks; NCEES Record holder and knowledge of Navisworks, SKM PowerTools, or ETap are preferred.
