Farnsworth Group is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer in one of the following locations. In this role, qualified candidates would lead the day-to-day production of industrial, oil & gas, and other technically complex projects.


Posting Location(s): Bloomington, Champaign, Lisle, Peoria or Springfield, IL; Greenwood Village, CO (Denver Tech Center); St. Louis, MO;


Job Activities:

  1. Manage multiple projects involving full electrical design, including Power distribution, Lighting, Telecommunications, Controls, Renewable Energy Systems, and electrical MV systems for industrial and oil & gas markets.
  2. Engage in and assume responsibility for:
    • Code research and application
    • Fieldwork to determine existing conditions
    • Preliminary schematics through final designs
    • Calculations
    • Equipment specification, sizing, and layout
    • Coordination with other team members
    • Preparation of electrical system construction drawings and specifications
    • Submittal review and construction administration
  3. Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors; maintain project budgets and schedules while ensuring quality.
  4. Mentor engineers, designers, and drafters.
  5. Report to an engineering manager who provides mentoring and professional development opportunities.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Electrical engineer with 8-15 years of experience in complex system design.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering; PE license required.
  • Experience with industrial power distribution, controls, and MV systems.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Problem-solving skills in power engineering.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with client immunization requirements.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites.
  • NCEES Record holder preferred.
  • Knowledge of Navisworks, SKM PowerTools, or ETap preferred.

Salary Range: $96,000 - $130,000, based on experience and qualifications.
