Job summary

The Associate Engineer position at JEA offers an entry to mid-level engineering path in electrical utility design and project support. You will perform routine analyses, assist in design tasks, and participate in field inspections for small to medium projects.

You will work under supervision, gaining independence as you develop technical and professional judgment, while coordinating with internal stakeholders and contributing to budget and scheduling updates.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree required.
• Driver's license required prior to employment.
• Active final-year ABET-electrical degree students may participate in testing/interview and be placed on the eligibility list.

Responsibilities

• Assess system design improvements under supervision.
• Serve as project manager for small to moderately complex utility projects through phases.
• Assist in preparing RFQs, reviewing vendor responses, and developing bid recommendations.
• Participate in complex field inspections and report non-conformance with design plans.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on engineering requirements.
• Monitor system performance, investigate failures, and suggest improvements and training.
• Prepare technical, financial, or process-related analytical reports.
• Develop written and verbal project status updates including schedules and budgets.
