Job Overview

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer for our Leaf River Cellulose facility in New Augusta, MS. You will oversee planning, design, and execution of electrical projects, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency. Collaboration with teams to develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, while ensuring compliance with regulations, is essential. You will troubleshoot electrical issues, provide technical guidance, and implement solutions to improve electrical performance. This position reports directly to the Project Engineering Leader.

About Our Team

Leaf River, a non-union facility in South Mississippi, employs about 320 people. For 40 years, it has produced chemical cellulose, fibers, and nonwoven materials for products like diapers and coffee filters. As part of Georgia-Pacific’s Cellulose division, the facility emphasizes safety, operations, and environmental standards. More information can be found at www.gppackaging.com.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations; manage project milestones and costs.
  2. Create and present project reports to stakeholders.
  3. Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and process engineers to ensure project success.
  4. Engage with vendors and contractors for procurement and execution.
  5. Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
  6. Review plans for new equipment, ensuring reliability and maintainability.
  7. Identify risks, contribute to risk management, and anticipate issues.
  8. Ensure electrical systems meet industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Electrical engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, government, or military sectors.
  • Project management experience in similar environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Certificates in Industrial Electrical Maintenance or Certified Electrical Technician (CET).
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in electrical engineering.
