Job summary

Bowman Consulting is seeking a Project Engineer, Electrical to join their Boston team. In this role, you will perform electrical design tasks and develop construction documents while working closely with clients and internal teams.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with at least five years of relevant experience. A competitive salary range of $110,000 - $150,000 is offered, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in power infrastructure design.
  • Knowledge of current electrical codes and standards.
  • EIT and LEED accreditation preferred.

Purpose

Perform all levels of electrical design including the development of construction documents.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Direction
    • Receive broad guidance relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially on highly complex assignments. Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
  • At The Operational And Company Level
    • Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
    • Represent project team in client communications and resolutions.
  • Do the Work
    • Design of complex electrical systems in accordance with current code requirements and sound engineering principles.
    • Responsible for more complex tasks and/or designs within project assignments.
    • Apply broad knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.
    • Oversee designs through project construction/completion.
    • Communicate effectively with engineers, project manager, and the client.
    • Conduct field observations visits to accurately document the existing field conditions.
    • Organize/prioritize multiple tasks to complete the design in a sequential efficient manner.
    • Complete electrical calculations not limited to load studies, voltage drop, panel/transformer/feeder loading, generator sizing, illumination levels, etc.
    • Design/layout of electrical system devices, distribution components, lighting, fire alarm and special systems applicable to the project type.
    • Accurately produce the project construction documents to meet milestone schedules within a predetermined hourly budget.
    • Attend coordination and design meetings, as needed.
    • Define and determine project specifications and budget construction cost estimating.
    • Address comments from clients, AHJ's & other review authorities; adjust designs accordingly.
    • If directed, review all project related construction administrative items (shop drawings, RFI's, change order proposals).
    • Work within established project budgets.
    • Possess and continue to develop a working knowledge of all codes applicable to the discipline.
    • Possess and continue to develop a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
    • Five or more (5+) years of relevant industry-related experience in power infrastructure design for mission critical, laboratory and technically complex buildings. Medium voltage experience is desired.
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT software, SKM software tools, and/or Lighting Design software (i.e., AGI, Visual, etc.).
    • EIT and LEED accreditation preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.

    Physical Demands and Working Environment
    • Eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

    • Occasional local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
