Job summary

Bowman is seeking an Engineer IV, Electrical to join our Houston team. You will lead complex electrical design projects, apply NEC and IEEE standards, and deliver drawings, calculations, and construction documents with minimal supervision.

The role requires a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, 10+ years of industry experience, proficiency with AutoCAD, REVIT, SKM and lighting design tools, and PE licensure preferred. You’ll mentor junior engineers and interface with clients across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Ten or more (10+) years of industry‑related experience in design of varied electrical projects.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT software, SKM software tools, and lighting design software (AGI, Visual, etc.).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and analyze electrical systems for diverse projects (power distribution, lighting, grounding, controls).
  • Review and approve electrical designs, calculations, and construction documents for quality and compliance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and interface with clients, contractors, and regulators.
  • Support project planning, scope definition, schedules, budgets, and resource planning.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers; lead QA/QC reviews and corrective actions.

Purpose

Provides advanced electrical engineering expertise for the planning, design, and delivery of complex engineering projects. Independently applies sound engineering judgment to develop electrical systems, calculations, and construction documents that meet client objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Serves as a technical leader within project teams, supporting quality delivery, client satisfaction, and profitable project execution.

Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
  • Perform work with limited supervision, receiving broad direction on complex or high-impact assignments.
  • Independently apply advanced electrical engineering principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior engineers and designers.
  • Review and approve electrical designs, calculations, and construction documents for quality, accuracy, and compliance with standards.
  • Support project managers and discipline leaders with technical input, risk identification, and issue resolution
At The Operational And Company Level
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to coordinate electrical designs with other engineering disciplines.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to support design development, permitting, and approvals.
  • Contribute to project planning, including scope definition, schedules, budgets, and resource planning.
  • Support business development efforts through technical input, proposal development, and client presentations.
  • Promote best practices, standardization, and continuous improvement within the electrical discipline.
Do the Work
  • Plan, design, and analyze electrical systems for a variety of projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, controls, and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Develop and review electrical drawings and details prepared by designers and junior engineers.
  • Apply applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEEE, local codes) to ensure compliant designs.
  • Perform technical evaluations, feasibility studies, and design alternatives analyses.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues and conflicting design requirements.
  • Support preparation of permit applications and respond to agency comments.
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Assist in construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and field coordination.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Ten or more (10+) years of industry‑related experience, in design of industrial, commercial, government, academic, R&D, multi‑family (low‑and high‑rise), and similar projects.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT software, SKM software tools, and/or Lighting Design software (ie AGI, Visual, etc.).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
