Job summary

RISINGSUN TECHNOLOGIES is looking for a Substation Engineer in California. You will design and develop high-voltage substation systems and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience in substation engineering, with strong expertise in outdoor substation physical design. A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred. Candidates should ideally be based in California or willing to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with electric utilities and renewable energy projects.
• Strong expertise in primary (outdoor) substation physical design.
• Hands-on experience with AIS and GIS substations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review substation plan and elevation drawings, general arrangement layouts, and equipment erection drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-voltage substation systems for utility and renewable energy projects
• Prepare and review:
  • Substation plan and elevation drawings
  • General arrangement layouts
  • Equipment erection drawings
• Develop layouts for:
  • High voltage bus and equipment
  • Cable routing and conduit systems
  • Grounding systems
  • Auxiliary power systems
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years of experience in substation engineering (Transmission & Distribution)
• Proven experience working with electric utilities and renewable energy projects
• Strong expertise in primary (outdoor) substation physical design
• Hands‑on experience with AIS and GIS substations
• In‑depth knowledge of:
  • IEEE, ANSI standards
  • NEC, NESC codes
  • North American grid standards and best practices
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting major utility clients (e.g., large IOUs)
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in the U.S.
• Or actively working toward obtaining one
• Ability to review, approve, and seal engineering work
