Job summary

Helix Electric Inc. in Oakland, CA is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager on electrical construction projects, serving as a liaison between field and office to define objectives, schedules, and budgets.

You will help plan, execute, and finalize projects on time and within budget, develop schedules, manage procurement, and oversee subcontractors while ensuring quality control.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of Project Engineer experience in electrical construction.
• Understanding of engineering in electric power.
• Field experience coordinating with construction management.
• Extensive knowledge of project scheduling, bids, takeoffs, change orders, and contracts.
• Ability to develop relationships and help win projects.
• Ability to run a profitable portfolio.
• BSEE or Construction Management degree strongly preferred.
• Journeyman or Master Electrician's license a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide close support to the senior project management team.
• Develop project teams while delivering quality output, meeting customer expectations, and staying on schedule and within budget.
• Support scheduling, procurement, contractual requirements, and resource planning.
• Improve department processes to meet customer needs and profitability goals.
• Ensure schedule requirements are met and adjust priorities as needed.
• Coordinate with customers to validate expectations before, during, and after completion.
• Oversee third-party construction firms and subcontractors.
• Manage project review with emphasis on financial forecasting.
• Ensure high-quality engineering and Helix project delivery.
• Communicate challenges, risks, and successes proactively.
• Oversee monthly invoicing per project terms and issue change orders.
• Coordinate with Site Superintendents on methods, labor, and staffing.
• Ensure adherence to Quality Control processes.
• Support downstream teams to meet deadlines.
