Kelly Services is seeking an Electrical Product Assembler / Heavy Mechanical Assembler in Waukesha, WI for a hands-on role building large power transformers. You will work on internal assemblies, tank installation, and final component installation on a 3rd shift schedule (11:00 PM–7:00 AM).

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with heavy equipment, cranes, and reading blueprints. Base pay is $30.71/hr with a $2 shift premium, bringing the effective hourly rate to $32.71.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in heavy mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, manufacturing, or power equipment preferred.

Kelly Services is hiring Electrical Product Assemblers / Heavy Mechanical Assemblers for a hands-on manufacturing opportunity in Waukesha, WI.

You’ll help build the internal and external components of large power transformers, working on everything from internal assemblies and tank installation to final component installation, processing, paint preparation, and shipment readiness.

Base Pay: $30.71/hour
Shift Premium: +$2.00/hour
Effective Hourly Rate: $32.71/hour

Shift: 3rd Shift
Hours: 11:00 PM–7:00 AM
Schedule: Sunday–Thursday

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Electrical Product Assembler, you’ll help build and prepare large power transformers throughout multiple stages of production.

Your work may include:

  • Tightening and pressing internal transformer assemblies

  • Using overhead cranes to lift large internal assemblies into transformer tanks

  • Installing transformer covers and major components

  • Making internal electrical and mechanical connections

  • Installing external components and accessories

  • Removing components when preparing transformers for shipment

  • Working with items such as radiators, conservators, and transformer monitoring equipment

  • Preparing units and components for painting

  • Operating vacuum pumps and oil fill/drain systems

  • Using forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles to move components

  • Reading and following blueprints, bills of material, and technical specifications

  • Verifying alignment, spacing, and proper assembly of components

  • Performing contamination-control and cleanliness procedures

  • Inspecting your own work for quality and accuracy

  • Supporting and training newer operators as your skills grow

Tools & Equipment You’ll Use

Depending on the assignment, you may work with:

  • Overhead cranes

  • Forklifts and powered industrial vehicles

  • Hydraulic presses

  • Hand tools

  • Wire cutters

  • Wire crimpers

  • Vacuum pumps

  • Oil fill and drain systems

  • Calibrated tools and measuring equipment

  • Other industrial assembly equipment

What We’re Looking For

This could be a strong fit if you have experience in:

  • Heavy mechanical assembly

Prior transformer experience is helpful, but not required.

Physical Requirements

This is an active heavy-manufacturing position.

Candidates should be comfortable:

  • Standing and walking frequently throughout the shift

  • Climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and reaching

  • Working around large industrial equipment

  • Working at heights of up to 25 feet

  • Performing work in confined spaces

  • Using overhead cranes and powered industrial vehicles

  • Wearing required PPE and following all safety procedures

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Prior experience in heavy mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, manufacturing, or power equipment is preferred

  • Candidates with strong mechanical skills and relevant hands-on manufacturing experience are encouraged to apply
