Job summary

Teradyne, a global test and automation leader, seeks an electrical engineer in Reading, MA to design power distribution solutions and safety circuitry for advanced building systems. You will plan hardware development across concurrent projects, drive architecture decisions, and mentor engineers while coordinating with customers and suppliers worldwide.

Qualifications

• Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in system design; M.S. degree and 1+ year experience acceptable.
• Strong initiative, self-motivation, and ability to design, engineer, analyze and test medium complexity systems and subsystems.
• Excellent communication skills for influence with customers, teammates, and suppliers worldwide.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities; strong technical writing and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of electrical codes (S2, S8, NFPA, NEC).
• Understanding of networks, subnets and IP assignments.

Responsibilities

• Develop power distribution solutions and safety circuitry for building systems (AC medium voltage to DC lower voltage).
• Plan and execute hardware development for multiple concurrent instrument projects from concept to production release.
• Communicate progress to stakeholders and participate in cross-functional teams to define architectures and specifications.
• Engage with customers during projects to ensure alignment and delivery on schedule.
• Mentor other engineers and collaborate with technicians and field engineers on startup and integration.
• Design and review SOLIDWORKS electrical drawings and select components meeting safety and system needs.

Opportunity Overview

• Develop Power distribution solution and safety circuitry for building systems (AC medium voltage to DC lower voltage)
• Planning and executing the hardware development portion of multiple concurrent instrument projects, from concept through production release
• Communicating progress at appropriate levels of abstraction
• Participating in cross-functional teams to develop architectures, systems design, and specifications for new products
• Customer facing engagement with customers during projects ensuring alignment
• Ensuring that products are meeting requirements and are delivered on schedule
• Mentoring other engineers
• Working with other engineers on design and purchasing materials.
• Working with technicians and field engineers to assist system startup.
• Designing and reviewing SOLIDWORKS electrical drawings
• Conducting market research and product evaluations when selecting components
• Developing and executing based on project budgets and timeline
• Work with the safety team to review safety designs.
• Work with Safety team on system certifications before releasing it to production
• Writing reports and presenting findings
• Achieving business results and company goals
• Working with external suppliers to meet schedule
• Designing Cable Harnesses for the system to work as intended
• Select appropriate hardware to meet safety and system requirements

• Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering with at least 3+ years of experience in system design or M.S and 1+ years. Experience in developing System manufacturing and testing equipment.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is$86,700 to $138,700.This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan

This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
