Job summary

Teradyne in North Reading, MA, seeks a Senior Systems Quality Engineer to verify the quality and performance of complex software/hardware in semiconductor test environments. You will partner with Software, Systems, Hardware, and QA teams to validate end-to-end functionality and drive quality improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 10+ years of quality engineering, software testing, or systems validation.
  • Experience with system-level, integration, and end-to-end testing of complex software/hardware systems.
  • Strong command of Windows and Linux OS and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in an object-oriented language such as C# or C++ and test automation development.
  • Experience building and executing automated tests and CI/CD integration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system-level test strategy, plans, and validation for complex hardware/software solutions.
  • Develop and maintain manual and automated test scripts to validate end-to-end workflows.

Opportunity Overview

As a Senior Systems Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of Teradyne’s complex software and hardware solutions used in semiconductor test and automation environments. This position partners closely with Software, Systems, Hardware, Applications, Product Engineering, and Quality Engineering teams to validate end-to-end system functionality, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and drive quality improvements throughout the product development lifecycle. The role is ideal for a motivated collaborator who enjoys understanding integrated systems, solving challenging technical problems, and leveraging automation to improve quality, efficiency, and release confidence.

  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of system-level test strategies, test plans, test cases, and validation activities for complex hardware and software solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated test solutions to validate functionality, reliability, performance, and end-to-end system workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Development, Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and Quality Engineering teams to define quality objectives, validation strategies, and release readiness criteria.
  • Build and enhance test automation solutions using modern programming and scripting languages while integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support troubleshooting, isolation, and resolution of complex issues across software, hardware, networking, and integrated system components.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the adoption of best practices in system validation, automation, and quality engineering.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Software Testing, Systems Validation, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience performing system-level, integration, and end-to-end testing of complex software and hardware systems.
  • Strong understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language such as C# or C++, with experience developing and maintaining test automation solutions.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for test automation, tooling, and analysis.
  • Experience implementing automated testing within CI/CD environments using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues spanning multiple system components.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead testing efforts, influence cross-functional teams, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments using tools such as Jira.

We are only considering candidates local to position location and are unable to provide relocation for this position.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $161,700 - $258,800. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
