Our portfolio of automation solutions help manufacturers to develop and deliver products quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively. Together, Teradyne companies deliver manufacturing automation across industries and applications around the world! We attract, develop, and retain a high-performance workforce, comprised of people with diverse backgrounds and a shared drive for excellence. We strive to foster a positive and inclusive work environment that helps employees, and communities, thrive.

Our Purpose

We are the global test and automation specialist, powering next-generation technologies through sophisticated solutions. Behind every electronics device you use, Teradyne test technology helps ensure the device works right the first time, every time. Our portfolio helps manufacturers develop and deliver products quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.

Opportunity Overview

Teradyne's Integrated Systems Test (IST) Hardware Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated, energetic and technically driven Senior Systems Engineer to deliver world-class System-Level Test solutions to a growing portfolio of customers.

Our testers prove that customers' chips work. This role addresses the equally critical challenge of proving that the tester itself works before it reaches a customer and throughout its service life. The Senior Systems Engineer will define and drive an independent, built-in capability for self-test, telemetry, data visualization and analysis. This green-field, high-visibility charter will influence how future product generations are architected.

  • Engineering validation: Enable verification of tester functionality, quality and performance before first customer delivery, independent of customer content.
  • Manufacturing: Provide Operations with rigorous, repeatable self-test and data-analysis capabilities for every unit built.
  • Reliability and service: Use telemetry, diagnostics, health monitoring and analytics to trend degradation, accelerate troubleshooting and support predictive failure and preventive maintenance.
  • Product architecture: Ensure testability, observability and data requirements are designed into the system from the requirements phase forward.
  • Productivity and performance: Use system and device data to assess throughput, thermal behavior, build quality and overall system health.
  • Define the self-test and system-health architecture: Interpret system requirements, hardware architecture, subsystem behavior and telemetry capabilities to determine what must be tested, monitored and analyzed, and how the tester will test itself.
  • Apply deep knowledge of embedded systems, automation, thermal systems, power distribution, cooling, pneumatics, test execution and safety to define system-level test coverage and health monitoring.
  • Write precise software requirements and define the software architecture for the self-test suite, including algorithms for automatic health checks and continuous monitoring.
  • Use traceability to connect system requirements, risks and test objectives to each self-test and to confirm that product goals have been met.
  • Partner directly with hardware and software engineers through implementation, verification, manufacturing deployment and field evaluation.
  • Build the telemetry, data and analysis strategy: Define and implement methods to collect, structure, visualize and analyze subsystem and system telemetry.
  • Use available data to generate actionable information regarding system health, subassembly and system build pass/fail status, in-situ health checks, predictive failure, preventive maintenance, system throughput and thermal performance.
  • Work with the software team to define requirements and implementation approaches for data capture, analysis tools, troubleshooting tools, visualization and user-interface capabilities, and analytical algorithms.
  • Determine the visualization and user-interface framework that enables maintenance personnel, service engineers and outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) engineers to use telemetry to isolate system errors and failures.
  • Define requirements and methodologies for using customer test programs, customer data and device-under-test (DUT) telemetry in adaptive test models.
  • Evaluate and apply artificial intelligence techniques where they add value to advanced system-data analysis.
  • Shape new product development: Introduce testability, observability, telemetry and analytics requirements at the earliest architecture stage so these capabilities are native to the design rather than retrofitted.
  • Contribute to the multi-generation product roadmap by anticipating future needs for self-verification, diagnostics, data analytics and serviceability two to three generations ahead.
  • Track competitive offerings and emerging customer and market requirements, and engage directly with customers on reliability, diagnostics and data expectations.
  • Lead across functional boundaries: Provide technical leadership across hardware, mechanical, software, quality, reliability, manufacturing, NPI and service teams through expertise and influence.
  • Build effective working relationships with senior technical staff to interpret, negotiate and align requirements across disciplines.
  • Plan and organize the work by creating work breakdown structures, defining workflows and clearing roadblocks for supporting design teams.
  • Lead or participate in root-cause analysis of product performance and reliability issues using system knowledge, telemetry and troubleshooting tools.
