Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking an Electrical Engineer at the Marshall Steam Station to serve as the site subject matter expert for electrical power systems and to support plant operations and maintenance with troubleshooting and technical recommendations.

The role includes participating in capital projects and maintaining system reliability, with opportunities for growth and development within a large utility. Onsite work with cross-functional collaboration is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
A master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the BS engineering degree.
Minimum of 4 years of related engineering experience.
Senior Engineer: minimum of 6 years of related experience (or 5 years with PE).

Responsibilities

Serving as the site subject matter expert for electrical power systems.
Monitoring and trending system performance.
Directing onsite testing and troubleshooting activities for emergent issues.
Evaluating preventative maintenance program performance and recommending adjustments.
Ensuring regulatory compliance is maintained.
Interfacing with operations, maintenance, and other departments to address system concerns.
Coordinating cross-functionally with other departments to address schedules and budgets.
Maintaining plant risk grid for system and equipment responsibilities.
Interfacing with external vendors to resolve technical issues.
Developing scope and technical basis for engineering design changes (e.g., power systems, transformers, motors).
Serving as the single point of contact for external control system vendor support.
Researching engineering issues and presenting recommendations.
Serving as station PTAC.
