Job summary

R&P Technologies is seeking a mid-level Electrical Power Controls Engineer to join our defense-focused team in Philadelphia. You will design, program, test, and sustain electrical control systems and power distribution architectures for Navy ship programs, focusing on PLC/HMI logic, system integration, and technical documentation.

The role supports shipboard electric plant activities, interfaces with laboratories and shipyards, and requires up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship is required.
Secret DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one.
BS in Electrical Engineering or higher.
5+ years in electrical engineering, controls, automation, or related work.
Experience with Ladder Logic PLCs (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modicon).
Experience developing or modifying HMI interfaces.
Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Strong documentation, communication, and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, and troubleshoot electrical control systems for Navy/defense.
Develop and modify PLC logic and HMI interfaces for legacy and new systems.
Support shipboard power generation, distribution, and auxiliary control systems.
Troubleshoot PLC logic, I/O, sensors, relays, and networked controllers.
Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
Develop test plans and procedures for system verification and validation.
Coordinate with government customers, engineers, vendors, and teams.
