Job summary

Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services seeks a Permitting & Code Compliance Inspector with strong electrical inspection experience to join the inspections team. The role involves on-site inspections for compliance with plans, permits, and NFPA 70, including documenting findings and coordinating corrective actions.

Candidates may be considered for Inspector II or I initially; advancement to Inspector III is possible through performance and the Proficiency Advancement process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field required.
• Three years of electrical field experience with one year in code compliance/enforcement for Inspector III.
• Five years of electrical field experience with one year in code compliance/enforcement for Inspector II.
• Three years of electrical experience with high school diploma for Inspector I.
• License/certifications as listed in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve electrical plans.
• Document inspections and related records per codes and standards.
• Provide written or oral feedback on findings.
• Coordinate with on-site contractors to resolve discrepancies and schedule corrective actions.
• Testify as an issuing official and expert witness when required.
• Perform related duties as required.
