Howard County Government is seeking an Electrical Inspector with Maryland Master General Electrician's license to conduct field inspections for compliance with the National Electrical Code on behalf of Howard County. The incumbent will document inspection results and may issue citations, review construction plans, and testify in court when required.

Salary ranges from $30.17 to $39.54 per hour, equating to about $62,751 to $82,247 annually.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Master's General Electrician's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets approved construction and shop drawings of electrical installations.
• Reviews electrical plans, materials lists, specifications, and methods of installation.
• Interprets codes and provides guidance to contractors, engineers, architects, craft-workers, and property owners.
• Inspects electrical installations in new, remodeled, or altered buildings (residential, commercial, industrial).
• Verifies proper installation of electrical conductors and equipment.
• Calculates loads and confirms compliance with the National Electrical Code.
• Documents inspection results and maintains case histories.
• Issues violations and citations; testifies in court when required.
