Job summary

Vertiv Group Corporation in the United States seeks an Electrical Modeling and Simulation Engineer to develop and validate electrical models using Matlab/Simulink, with PSCAD experience a plus.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering; PhD accepted.
  • 1+ years related experience.
  • Thorough understanding of 3-phase power systems.
  • Thorough understanding of power electronic converters (rectifiers, inverters, dc/dc).
  • Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink.
  • Experience with PSCAD, PSSE and/or other tools.
  • Skilled developing control algorithms in C/C++.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Teamwork and ability to work in unclear first-of-kind tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of machine learning with Python/PyTorch.

Responsibilities

  • Model Development: Develop and maintain detailed electrical models for components and systems using Matlab / Simulink.
  • Simulation and Analysis: Conduct simulations to predict behavior and performance of electrical systems under various conditions.
  • Design Optimization: Collaborate with design teams to integrate simulation results into the design process.
  • Validation and Testing: Validate simulation models through experimental testing and correlation with real-world data.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Customer Focus: Work directly with customers to solve problems through accurate models.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of models, procedures, and results.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with advancements in modeling and simulation technologies.
  • Specialized Expertise: Apply knowledge of power electronic converters, feedback control algorithms, and ML to optimize design.
