Job summary

Delta Electronics Americas seeks a Simulation Engineer to develop and validate SST and microgrid models using MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or PSS/E. You will build multi-level models, study grid interaction, and support HIL integration for real-time validation.

The role collaborates with controls and test teams to ensure fault analysis, protection coordination, and US interconnection standards compliance across grid-connected and islanded scenarios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in power system or power electronics simulation.
• Strong hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or PSS/E, including dynamic system modeling and control system simulation.
• Solid understanding of inverter-based and power-electronic systems, grid-connected and islanded power systems, fault behavior and protection fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and validate component- and system-level simulation models for SSTs and microgrid architectures.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop teams and support real-time execution in HIL environments.
• Evaluate system behavior for voltage/current/control loops, grid synchronization, islanding detection, and dynamic stability.
• Provide simulation data to support design decisions, protection settings, and reviews.
• Support protection schemes, fault detection thresholds, and coordination between SSTs, DERs, and utility protection.
• Simulate grid interaction scenarios in line with US interconnection standards (IEEE 1547/1547.1).
