Job summary

Amentum is seeking a motivated Field Engineer to join our team at China Lake, CA. This hands-on role blends electrical troubleshooting with mechanical installation support and field execution to sustain fielded hardware.

The ideal candidate will have a STEM degree and experience with low-voltage systems, sensors, harnesses, and wiring documentation. Navy program support and mentoring junior technicians are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3–12 years field engineering or related technical experience.
• Ability to obtain US Government Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on electrical installation, troubleshooting, and repair of low-voltage systems and sensors.
• Support mechanical installation with brackets, enclosures, and mounting hardware.
• Read wiring diagrams, schematics, and interface drawings to support installation and fault isolation.
• Document discrepancies, corrective actions, and as-built conditions per program requirements.
