Base pay range
$26.00/hr - $28.00/hr
Position Description
- Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety protective equipment and ISO 14001 EMS guidelines.
- Perform detailed machine maintenance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems, repair and maintain all equipment in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
- Day to day coverage of production equipment - respond to breakdowns, and production requests, quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Completing mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance activities to identify and correct mechanical or electrical defects before they fail.
- Create and close work orders into SAP CMMS with appropriate data to include labor hours, equipment maintenance, and parts used.
- Read blueprints, technical and mechanical drawings, Process & Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s) and schematics.
- Use light rigging, such as chain falls, chokers, slings, nylon belts, monorails, eyebolts, shackles, and beam clamps
- Perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling.
- Maintain housekeeping in shop / maintenance support areas and on the production floor.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: AAS degree in a maintenance related field or equivalent military training, with 3+ years’ experience is desired. Combination of experience/training will be considered. NCDOL Journeyman Apprentice Maintenance Level I and Level II or equivalent.
Experience
What We Are Looking For:
- 2 - 5 years or more experience industrial or manufacturing electro-mechanical maintenance, or equivalent military background.
- Experience troubleshooting bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and electrical/mechanical equipment.
- Experience reading technical drawings and schematics.
- Able to lift and move material up to 50 pounds each.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
- Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds.
- Able to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation.
- Ability to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours.
- Flexibility in covering multiple shifts and holiday hours as required.
- Excellent references and attendance record is a must.
- Ability to troubleshoot / repair industrial electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge and Ability to use standard measurement tools and electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment tech manuals, schematics and blueprints.
- Must complete OJT for specific job classification, as required, in a timely manner.

- Licensed Industrial Tradesman
- NCDOL Journeyman Apprentice – Trade Skills Program
- Previous maintenance experience in a Fiber Optics Cabling organization.
- Experience programming PLCs.
- Experience working with 24v, 120v, 240v and 480/3-phase electrical knowledge.
- Experience with MIG, TIG, Arc welding.
- Experience with a manual lathe and milling machine.
- Multi-craft capabilities such as: welding, pipe fitting, precision millwright, and lubrication/filtration.
