Job description

As a member of the Maintenance Department, the Electrical Maintenance Technician II safely performs preventive and corrective maintenance on plant electrical and mechanical equipment. This position troubleshoots equipment failures, completes repairs, and restores machinery to proper operating condition while following company safety policies and JSAs. The role supports reliable plant operations and continuous improvement through strong technical knowledge and practical experience.

NATURE & SCOPE OF POSITION:
  • Inspect non-operational equipment for component wear.
  • Replace non-operational components of equipment that hinder the equipment from operating efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems throughout the process.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance support, including troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment adjustments to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical components such as motors, pumps, compressors, sensors, control devices, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Work with contractors onsite and with plant projects.
  • Knowledge and understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic theory.
  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge and adequate skills to understand various plant processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform daily activities needed to support and comply with requirements surrounding plant maintenance activities.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to support safe and reliable plant operations.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical failures on industrial machinery, motors, pumps, compressors, conveyors, and related plant equipment.
  • Inspect equipment, identify maintenance needs, and complete repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Maintain, repair, and replace mechanical components, electrical components, sensors, control devices, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems as needed.
  • Must be able to dismantle and repair auxiliary equipment such as pumps, compressors, and pipe systems in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Will participate in training, craft skill improvements and department safety topics.
  • Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES (SKILLS & ABILITIES):

Must possess strong mechanical and electrical maintenance knowledge, with demonstrated experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery, motors, pumps, compressors, control panels, electrical systems, single- and three-phase circuits, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, sensors, and instrumentation.

A degree or technical certification in a maintenance-related field, such as electrical or mechanical technology, is required, along with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.

Preferred certifications not all needed include, but are not limited to, the following: Mechanical or industrial maintenance trade school certification, Electrical certification, Programmable logic controller (PLC) certification, Candidates must also successfully complete a skills assessment evaluating their mechanical and electrical maintenance knowledge and abilities. Experience troubleshooting automation equipment and knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are preferred.
