Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Company is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician for 2nd or 3rd shift (Mon-Fri, 3pm–11pm or 11pm–7am) with overtime as needed. The role supports a fast-paced packaging facility, performs preventative maintenance, and troubleshoots equipment while upholding safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has an Electrical background and PLC troubleshooting experience, plus the ability to work safely, lift up to 50 lbs, and operate in a loud industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Electrical background is required or strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical training is a plus.
• Experience with PLCs and diagnostic instruments is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Install, start up and shut down equipment following safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
• Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical problems and maintain maintenance records.
• Support operations and communicate issues to management and line mechanics.

Shift: 2nd Shift or 3rd Shift (M-F, 3pm - 11pm or 11 pm 7 am)

Overtime: Must be able to work daily and weekend overtime

The Opportunity

• Support the operation of a fast-paced packaging manufacturing facility.
• The job also includes performing preventative maintenance functions as directed, assist maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting and to perform other duties as required.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Primary duties include the install, start up and shut down of equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown in line with OSHA requirements; inform appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved and maintain company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
• Ensure internal and external customers get the quality, consistency, and responsiveness they deserve

What You Need to Succeed

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Electrical background, Military training and/or technical school preferred
• Ability to maintain various manufacturing equipment, follow specific directions, and perform other duties as assigned
• Ability to work safely, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and comply with all safety regulations
• A thorough knowledge of electrical components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes
• Must be able to conduct, maintain, test and repair electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.
• Must be able to apply knowledge of electrical/mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and restore in all areas of Manufacturing.
• PLC programming, and troubleshooting experience
• Flexibility to work any shift and overtime as required
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
• Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced industrial environment, which may include exposure to heat, dust, and chemicals.
• This role is primarily off shift; however the successful candidate must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and on-call as required to support operations.

The starting range is $38 - $41.42/hr, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 5 days of paid vacation will be granted after 60 working days, and 10 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience, and education.
