Job summary

Altec Industries, Inc. in Creedmoor, NC is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility and production equipment for safe operation.

You will perform preventative maintenance, install and repair electrical and mechanical systems, read schematics and blueprints, and document all repair work while adhering to safety and quality policies. This role requires PLC/CNC experience and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years Industrial Electrical/Electronic experience required.
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend.
• Basic computer usage knowledge required.
• Demonstrated ability in the operation of CNC equipment and other specialized equipment.
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics required.
• Knowledge of operating machine tools, welding, carpentry, and electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical applications.
• Mechanical background to include troubleshooting skills required.
• Electrical/electronic experience with PLCs, CNCs and motor controls required.
• Electrical knowledge in industrial environments, including 480 volt 3 phase and multi-meter usage.

Responsibilities

• Use and conduct proper care of PPE.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Install and repair mechanical and electrical systems using diagrams and specs.
• Install power wiring and conduit for machines and robots following blueprints.
• Connect power supply wires and cables between machines.
• Diagnose malfunctioning equipment and replace damaged wires.
• Test machinery and discuss issues with maintenance staff.
• Replace faulty electrical components and sensors.
• Diagnose and repair electronic components such as PCBs.
• Repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
• Repair safety concerns; weld, cut, braze, solder as needed.
• Support events, maintain 5S housekeeping, and general maintenance.
• Record and document all maintenance and repair work.
• Follow safety, environmental and quality policies.

Responsibilities

Purpose of Position

To properly maintain, troubleshoot and repair facility and production equipment to ensure proper and safe use.

Major Responsibilities (Essential Job Duties)

• Use and conduct proper care of PPE.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Install and repair mechanical and electrical systems. Install electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.
• Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints, using hand tools and voltage tester.
• Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctioning mechanical and electrical equipment, such as transformers, motors and lighting fixtures using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables using hand tools.
• Test malfunctioning machinery using test equipment and discuss malfunction with other maintenance workers. Test and diagnose defective equipment and identify solutions to repair defective equipment.
• Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches and motors, and positions sensing devices using hand tools.
• Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards.
• Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
• Repair or correct safety concerns.
• Welding, cutting, brazing, and soldering as needed.
• Support RCI events.
• Clean equipment and work areas to enhance housekeeping (5S).
• General building maintenance.
• Record and document all maintenance repair work performed.
• Follow established safety, environmental and quality policies, procedures, and practices.
• Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment.
• Perform all duties assigned by the supervisor.

Basic Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

• 3-5 years Industrial Electrical/Electronic experience required.

Certification and Training

Ability to pass forklift certification. HAZWOP trained.

Work Environment

Varies at each location, but could be extreme hot or cold, depending upon weather conditions.
