Job summary

Altec is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to properly maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility and production equipment ensuring safe operation. The role covers electrical and mechanical systems, PLC/CNCs, hydraulics, and welding as needed.

The candidate should have 3-5 years of industrial electrical/electronic experience, a high school diploma, and strong reading/writing and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years industrial electrical/electronic experience.
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend required.
• Basic computer usage knowledge required.
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics required.
• Electrical/electronic experience working with PLCs, CNCs and motor controls required.
• Electrical knowledge in industrial environments, including 480 volt 3 phase and multi-meter usage required.

Responsibilities

• Use and conduct proper care of PPE.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Install and repair mechanical and electrical systems. Install electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.
• Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints, using hand tools and voltage tester.
• Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctioning mechanical and electrical equipment, such as transformers, motors and lighting fixtures using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables using hand tools.
• Test malfunctioning machinery using test equipment and discuss malfunction with other maintenance workers. Test and diagnose defective equipment and identify solutions to repair defective equipment.
• Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches and motors, and positions sensing devices using hand tools.
• Diagnose and replace faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards.
• Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
• Repair or correct safety concerns.
• Welding, cutting, brazing, and soldering as needed.
• Support RCI events.
• Clean equipment and work areas to enhance housekeeping (5S).
• General building maintenance.
• Record and document all maintenance repair work performed
• Follow established safety, environmental and quality policies, procedures, and practices.
• Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment.
• Perform all duties assigned by the supervisor

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• 3-5 years Industrial Electrical/Electronic experience required.
• High School Diploma/GED required.

Demonstrated ability in the operation of CNC equipment and other specialized equipment required.

• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics required.
• Knowledge of operating machine tools, welding, carpentry, and electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical applications required.
• Mechanical background to include troubleshooting skills required.
• Electrical/electronic experience working with PLC’s, CNC’s and motor controls required .
• Electrical knowledge in industrial/commercial environments, including 480 volt 3 phase and multi-meter usage required .

CERTIFICATION AND TRAINING

Ability to pass forklift certification. HAZWOP trained.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Varies at each location, but could be extreme hot or cold, depending upon weather conditions.

Job tasks may be inside or outside.

Electrical hazards, elevated surfaces, moving objects, chemical or dust, mechanical hazards, vibrations and noise

Handling of sharp surfaces

Weld smoke and fumes may exist
