Job summary

Afton Chemical Corporation in Sauget, IL is seeking a Plant Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor to direct maintenance activities, ensure safety, quality and cost efficiency, and lead a team of wage-roll employees.

You will develop and monitor safety programs, coordinate with operations to execute work plans, guide technical staff, and drive continuous improvement while adhering to union contracts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in Electrical Maintenance Supervision.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Supervise subordinates, resolve employee problems and disciplinary issues per Union contract.
• Oversee and ensure development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive safety program.
• Coordinate with operations management to execute maintenance work plans and allocate resources.
• Provide guidance to maintenance staff on technical issues and advise engineers on needs.
• Conceive and implement cost containment/improvement initiatives (cost/overtime/reductions).
• Participate in the plant reliability program to minimize outages.
• Investigate and manage grievances per labor contract processes.

Job description

Direct and oversee all phases of plant electrical and instrumentation maintenance to ensure the safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective production of quality products to serve our customers. Manage/supervise a team of wage roll employees.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise subordinates, resolve employee problems and disciplinary issues in accordance with the Union contract. Consult with Human Resources as appropriate.
• Oversee and ensure development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive safety program in assigned area. Areas of accountability will include documentation of safety activities, interactive safety inspections, safety training, JSA’s, active reporting and corrective action program. Foster a culture of safety.
• Coordinate with operations management to execute maintenance work plans according to the maintenance schedule while managing schedule breakers and emergency work by prioritizing and efficiently allocating resources to meet customer needs.
• Provide guidance and direction to the maintenance staff on technical issues. Provide options and alternatives to resolve problems based on prior experience and technical research (equipment files, work order history, etc.). Advise engineers on needs of the electrical group and execute solutions accordingly.
• Conceive, develop and implement ongoing cost containment/improvement initiatives including:
• General expense control and reduction
• Employee overtime reduction and productivity improvement
• Review of preventative and predictive maintenance techniques
• Completion of repetitive failure analysis
• Participate in the plant reliability program, routinely reviewing maintenance requests, backlogs, scheduling priorities and planning processes, etc. to minimize turnaround time and avoid unplanned outages
• Investigate and manage grievances according to the labor contract's written process.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in Electrical Maintenance Supervision
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Demonstrates an in-depth working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation process equipment operation and applications
• Demonstrates an in-depth working knowledge of piping systems, schematics, engineering and electrical drawings
• Demonstrates knowledge of ASME, ANSI codes
• Demonstrates understanding of OSHA regulations and a basic knowledge of local and state regulations concerning plant operation and construction
• Demonstrates effective presentation, facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Able to manage multiple tasks concurrently
• Able to interact effectively with all levels of employees
• Able to cope with multiple interruptions
• Able to troubleshoot electrical systems/equipment
• Demonstrates computer literacy with regard to Afton’s routine applications (SAP, Microsoft Office, etc.) and is able to use appropriate software to solve engineering problems

Pay Range: $87,000 - $105,000
