Job summary

Kiewit is hiring an Electrical Lead Field Engineer to oversee electrical engineering activities on power construction projects across multiple sites. You will guide field engineers and subcontractors, ensuring safe, compliant, and timely execution of installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance work.

The role demands strong leadership, deep knowledge of electrical systems, and the ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams while traveling to active project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Typically 5–10+ years of experience in electrical field engineering, construction, commissioning, or related roles.
• Proven experience leading field engineering teams on large-scale industrial, utility, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical power systems, protection schemes, and industrial control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and engineering specifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical expertise for electrical systems including power distribution, grounding, lighting, control systems, and equipment.
• Interpret drawings, schematics, and specs to support installation and commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide real-time resolutions to minimize schedule disruptions.
• Lead field engineering team members, offering guidance, mentoring, and technical support.
• Coordinate electrical installation activities with construction, mechanical, civil, and instrumentation teams.
• Review design documents for constructability and identify conflicts or improvements.
• Support procurement by reviewing vendor documentation and data sheets.
• Perform site inspections to verify compliance with standards and electrical codes (NEC, IEEE, NFPA).
