Job summary

FirstCall Mechanical is seeking an experienced Electrical Journeyman to join its South Amboy team. You will install, maintain, and repair electrical systems supporting commercial HVAC and mechanical projects, ensuring safety and NEC compliance.

The role requires completion of an electrical apprenticeship, a valid journeyman license, and 4+ years of experience. You will read blueprints, coordinate with foremen, mentor apprentices, and document work while upholding quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program is required.
• Valid state-issued Electrical Journeyman license.
• 4+ years of electrical experience, preferably in commercial or industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes.
• Experience working with HVAC-related electrical systems a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting, climbing, and working in various environments.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment for commercial HVAC and mechanical projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to determine project requirements.
• Perform electrical wiring, conduit installation, panel work, and terminations in compliance with NEC and local codes.
• Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functionality and safety.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and provide timely, effective solutions.
• Collaborate with foremen, project managers, and other trades to ensure project schedules and quality standards are met.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and organized condition.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
• Mentor and guide apprentices and less experienced electricians.
• Accurately document work performed and assist in maintaining project records.
