Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting in Pontiac, MI seeks an experienced industrial electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems. The role requires reading blueprints, NEC knowledge, and strong safety discipline.

You will guide apprentices and coordinate with other trades on turnkey projects. Must hold a Journeyman or Master Electrician license with at least 5 years of relevant experience in an industrial setting.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial electrical role.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics proficiently to determine scope of work and material quantities.
  • Understands various aspects of an industrial facility including structural, electrical, plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge and application of National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Ability to work with customers, project managers, and estimators professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems per NEC guidelines.
  • Work with minimal supervision while guiding Apprentices.
  • Cut, bend, and install conduit; use standard electrical testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and coordinate with other trades as needed.
  • Train apprentices and journeyman electricians; plan installations to minimize waste and ensure code compliance.
  • Run projects from start to finish with safety as a priority.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in accordance with NEC guidelines
  • Work with minimal supervision while providing guidance to Apprentices
  • Cut, bend, and install conduit
  • Utilize standard electrical testing equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues
  • Collaborate with and assist other trades departments as needed
  • Apply knowledge of policies and procedure followed within the Electrical Division and company
  • Run any size project from start to finish
  • Train apprentices and journeyman electricians
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
  • Adhere to company safety standards and procedures
Requirements
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license is required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial electrical role
  • Able to read blueprints and schematics proficiently to determine the scope of work locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required
  • Understands various aspects of an industrial facility including structural, electrical, plumbing systems, etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge of electrical code and apply it daily while on the job
  • Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, and estimators
  • Strong understanding of turn-key industrial process
  • Troubleshoot Equipment Control Systems
  • Troubleshoot Electrical Power Systems
  • Knowledge and application of National Electric Code
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes

  • Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials.
  • Use & recognize limitations of chains, synthetic, metal mesh and wire rope sling
  • Use & recognize rigging hardware including hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, softeners and tag lines
  • Identifies common load configurations & positioning
  • Rigger 2 training – trains on above
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
  • Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
  • Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
