San Jacinto College – Pasadena Campus in Texas is seeking an Electrical Journeyman to perform maintenance, repairs and installations of lighting and electrical systems across campus. The role requires a Texas Journeyman license, five years electrical apprenticeship and ten years in the field, with five as journeyman, and the ability to lift 40 pounds and work outside in all weather.

On-site presence is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years electrical apprenticeship (formal or on-the-job).
  • Ten years in electrical industry with five years as Licensed Journeyman Electrician (preferably Commercial).
  • Texas Journeyman Electrician License required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, repairs and replaces inside and outside lighting.
  • Maintains, repairs and replaces electrical equipment.
  • Performs PM on elevators, Code Blue phones, VFDs, and standby generators.
  • Closes out work orders and maintains inventory.
  • Assists outside contractors and other crafts, staff and students.
  • Shuts down gear and inspects, repairs, and cleans.

Job description

Electrical Journeyman -Central Campus

Perform essential and additional job duties as assigned by supervisor, and / or TMA work order system. Job duties are not limited to craft specific and may include assisting other crafts, or as the college needs.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Maintains, repairs and replaces inside and outside lighting
  • Maintains, repairs and replaces all electrical equipment
  • Performs preventative maintenance (PM) on elevators
  • Performs PM on Code Blue emergency phones
  • Performs PM on variable frequency drives
  • Maintains standby generator systems
  • Closes out work orders and maintains inventory
  • Maintains, repairs and replaces emergency and egress lighting
Additional Job Functions:
  • Assists outside contractors
  • Retrofits or installs electrical systems
  • Assists other crafts, faculty, staff and students
  • Shuts down 12470 gear and inspects, repairs, and cleans
  • Surveys repairs to problems with electrical systems
  • Completes surveys, studies and evaluations of electrical components and systems
  • Attends trainings as assigned by supervisor and/or the College to keep abreast of changing technology and to meet licensing requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to demonstrate the College values
  • Must be neat in appearance, and be willing to work outside, in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work in an office, and classroom environment, and maintain a courteous and professional attitude at all times.
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds
  • Must be willing to train and be certified on lifts and other heavy equipment
  • Ability to perform all installations per the National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Must be self-sufficient, and self-motivated
  • Must be able to keep safety of faculty, staff, and students at the front of all projects
Required Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years electrical apprenticeship, either formal or on the job training
Required Experience:
  • Ten years of experience in the electrical industry with five years as a Licensed Journeyman Electrician, preferably Commercial.
Preferred Experience:
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
Required Licenses/Certifications:
  • State of Texas Journeyman Electrician License

Note: The duties of this position require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location during unrestricted operations with very limited or no opportunity for remote work arrangements.

Salary Grade: 110
