Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical/Instrumentation Technician to join our Specialty Ingredients G.P. business at our Parlin, NJ location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Plant Operations function. This position will report to the Reliability Supervisor.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Works closely with the Reliability Supervisor and others in the Maintenance department to establish and achieve specified goals and objectives.
  2. Installs, tests, calibrates, maintains, plans, and repairs process measurement instrumentation including, but not limited to the following: flow measurement, level measurement, pressure measurement, temperature measurement, pH measurement, etc.
  3. Installs, tests, calibrates, maintains, plans, and repairs process automation including, but not limited to the Emerson Delta V Data Acquisition System (DAS), valve positioners, valve actuators, solenoids both air and electrically operated, etc.
  4. Plans, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs electrical wiring circuits (24VDC to 480 VAC), generators, transformers, motors, protective devices, switches, control devices, alarm systems, and lighting system equipment.
  5. Installs new equipment within the confines of a Class I Division I, Class II Division I, and intrinsically safe work environment.
  6. Works with engineering to specify or recommend equipment, areas for process improvement, process safety, process control, and data acquisition systems.
  7. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday day shift. In some situations, the E/I Technician is required to respond to emergency calls and work overtime as required.
  8. Must be able to work an “on-call” rotation every 4 weeks.
  9. Processes paperwork as needed for work order reporting and equipment reliability tracking.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. Minimum of FOUR (4) years of industrial or equivalent experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control systems is required.
  3. Must be able to read Electrical & Instrumentation drawings, schematics, and elementary diagrams.
  4. Must be willing to work in a union environment.
  5. Relevant military experience will be considered.
