Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician for our Brunswick, Georgia cellulose facility. You will perform electrical maintenance, support startup and shutdown projects, and help maintain production goals while ensuring a safe work environment.

The role involves 12‑hour rotating shifts, potential transition to 12‑hour shifts with differential for 2nd/3rd, and active participation in the Mill Emergency Response Team, with overtime as needed and a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• Two‑year degree or higher in Industrial Electrical Maintenance or Electrical Engineering.
• Journeyman Electrical Technician experience in an industrial environment considered.
• Experience reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics or drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment across the plant.
• Conduct emergency maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Maintain turbine generators and power distribution systems.
• Install equipment as needed.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, process controls, electrical, instrument, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Assist with shutdowns and startups on shutdown projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Work 12‑hour rotating shifts including overtime, holidays, and weekends.

Job Overview

Electrical & Instrumentation Technician – Brunswick, Georgia

Georgia‑Pacific Cellulose LLC invites you to enhance operations at its cellulose facility in Brunswick, Georgia. You will perform electrical maintenance, support startup and shutdown projects, and help maintain production goals while ensuring a safe work environment.

Compensation & Shift

Compensation: $43.94 per hour.

Shift: 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. schedule, with overtime as needed and the potential to transition to a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule including shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

All shift maintenance employees are active members of the Mill Emergency Response Team (ERT), requiring ongoing training and readiness to respond to on‑site emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment throughout the plant.
• Perform emergency maintenance on failed equipment to minimize production downtime.
• Maintain turbine generators and power distribution systems throughout the plant.
• Install equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, process controls, electrical, instrument, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Assist with shutdown and startup of equipment on shutdown projects.
• Maintain compliance with environmental and safety regulations and meet all safety requirements.
• Work 12‑hour rotating shifts including overtime, holidays, and weekends.

Basic Qualifications

• One or more of the following:
  • Two (2) years or more experience as a Journeyman Electrical and Instrumentation Technician in an industrial environment.
  • A two‑year degree or higher in Industrial Electrical Maintenance or Electrical Engineering and two (2) years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Three (3) years or more industrial electrical maintenance experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic equipment, circuits, components, pneumatics, and electrical issues.
• Experience reading and understanding electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatics schematics and/or technical drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical and other hazards including NFPA 70 arc flash electrical safety and OSHA regulations.
• Knowledge/experience with plant floor automation and office Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNET, network wiring, and fiber optic networks.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical equipment ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VDC.
• Experience using DC and AC motors, PLCs, variable frequency drives, and servo‑controlled systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five (5) years or more experience as a Journeyman Electrical and Instrumentation Technician in an industrial environment.
• Computer skills for record‑keeping and documentation.
• Rockwell AC drive troubleshooting expertise.
