Job summary

Georgia-Pacific Brunswick mill in Brunswick, Georgia, is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to perform electrical maintenance and support startup/shutdown projects. The role supports safe, high-performance operations and participates in the Mill Emergency Response Team. The position offers a 7:00 a.m.

– 3:30 p.m. schedule with overtime, and a potential transition to rotating 12-hour shifts with differentials for 2nd/3rd shifts.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years in industrial electrical maintenance or equivalent.
  • Experience reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Knowledge of electrical hazards and NFPA 70 arc flash safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with plant floor automation and office Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNET, network wiring and fiber optics.
  • Experience diagnosing 24VDC to 480VDC equipment; working with DC/AC motors, PLCs, VFDs and servo drives.
  • Shift flexibility and ability to work 12-hour shifts with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment throughout the plant.
  • Execute emergency maintenance to minimize production downtime.
  • Maintain turbine generators and power distribution systems.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, controls, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Assist with startup/shutdown of equipment on projects and ensure safety/compliance.
  • Work as part of the Mill Emergency Response Team and follow safety protocols.

Job description

Georgia-Pacific Cellulose LLC has an opportunity for a talented person to enhance operations at its cellulose facility inBrunswick, Georgia.TheElectrical & Instrumentation Technicianwill create value by performing electrical maintenance and supporting the facility’s startup and shutdown projects. Their successful performance will enable the facility to operate at the highest performance level, meeting production goals, and maintaining a safe work environment. Compensation:

$43.94 per hour.

Shift:

This position works a 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. schedule, with overtime as needed and the potential to transition to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule (including applicable shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts). All shift maintenance employees are active members of the Mill Emergency Response Team (ERT), requiring ongoing training, participation in drills, and readiness to respond to on-site emergencies such as fire, medical, and environmental incidents to support the safety of employees and mill operations.

What You Will Do
  • Perform routine maintenance (Preventive Maintenance) on electrical and instrumentation equipment throughout the plant
  • Perform emergency maintenance on failed equipment to ensure minimal production downtime
  • Maintain turbine generators and power distribution systems throughout the plant
  • Maintain and troubleshooting PLC’s, process controls, electrical, instrument, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
  • Assist with the shutdown and startup of equipment on shutdown projects
  • Fully comply with and ensure excellence in all areas of compliance, environmental and safety
  • Perform physical tasks while complying with safety requirements of the job
  • Work 12 hour rotating shifts including overtime, holidays, and weekends
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • One Or More of the following:
  • Two (2) years or more of experience as a Journeyman Electrical and Instrumentation Technician in an industrial environment
  • A two (2) year degree or higher in Industrial Electrical Maintenance or Electrical Engineering and two (2) years of industrial electrical maintenance experience
  • Three (3) years or more of industrial electrical maintenance experience
    troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic equipment, circuits, components, pneumatics, and electrical issues
  • Experience reading and understanding electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatics schematics and/or technical drawings
  • Knowledge of electrical and other hazards and precautions including safety procedures, NFPA 70 arc flash electrical safety, and OSHA regulations
  • Knowledge/experience with plant floor automation and office Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNET, network wiring and Fiber Optic Networks
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing various electrical and electronic equipment ranging in voltages from 24VDC to 480 VDC
  • Experience using both DC and AC motors, PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives, and Servo Controlled Systems
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Five (5) years or more of experience as a Journeyman Electrical and Instrumentation Technician in an industrial environment
  • Computer skills for record-keeping and documentation functions
  • Rockwell AC drive troubleshooting
