Job summary

Georgia-Pacific Brunswick mill in Brunswick, GA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to ensure machine reliability through troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on industrial equipment.

You will work with teams to meet production, quality and safety goals, install and align new equipment, and perform routine maintenance to maximize uptime and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of millwright experience.
• 2+ years of mechanical maintenance in an industrial setting.
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes and conveyors.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
• Precise alignment of motors, couplings, bearings and pumps.

Job description

Overview

Georgia-Pacific Cellulose, LLC has an opportunity for a talented Maintenance Mechanic to enhance operations at its Brunswick, Georgia facility. The Mechanic will create value by ensuring machine reliability through troubleshooting and by using preventative maintenance techniques on industrial plant equipment. The Millwright will work with their team to ensure the facility operates at a high level to meet production, quality and safety goals.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain industrial machinery
• Install and align new equipment
• Perform periodic maintenance routines including lubricating machine tools and equipment for improved reliability and uptime
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs including labor hours and critical preventive maintenance findings
• Work with the operations and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize maintenance needs
• Help meet or exceed production and quality goals while optimizing equipment to reduce waste
• Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures and actively participate in safety programs

Qualifications

• 2 years or more of Millwright experience
• 2 years or more of mechanical maintenance experience (e.g., millwright, pipe fitting, and/or welding) in an industrial environment
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatics systems
• Experience troubleshooting issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, conveyors
• Experience with reading and understanding mechanical drawings
• Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings and pumps, lubrication

What Will Put You Ahead

• Five (5) years or more of mechanical maintenance experience (e.g., millwright, pipe fitting, and/or welding) in an industrial environment
• Experience performing welding/cutting functions
• Experience using a computer
• Two (2) to four (4) year degree from a technical college or school in Industrial Maintenance or Industrial Technology

Compensation and Schedule

Compensation: $43.94 per hour. Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. schedule, with overtime as needed and potential to transition to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule with shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts. All shift maintenance employees are active members of the Mill Emergency Response Team (ERT), requiring ongoing training, participation in drills, and readiness to respond to on-site emergencies to support safety of employees and mill operations.
