Job summary

Tri-Rivers Career Center Adult Education seeks an experienced Electrical Instructor to provide hands-on training in electrical theory, installation, troubleshooting, and safe work practices. This part-time role welcomes professionals from residential, commercial, industrial, or maintenance electrical backgrounds who wish to share expertise while remaining active in the trade.

Prior teaching experience is not required.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience as an electrical engineer or as a residential, commercial, industrial, or maintenance electrician.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
• Reasonable understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to learners with varying levels of experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safety, professionalism, and student success.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging classroom instruction and hands-on lab training.
• Demonstrate electrical installation, troubleshooting, and repair techniques.
• Help learners build practical skills and confidence through hands-on activities.
• Reinforce a strong safety culture aligned with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and industry standards.
• Evaluate student progress through written exams, lab activities, and skill demonstrations.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and training records.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused lab environment.
• Help learners develop professionalism, teamwork, problem-solving, and workplace readiness skills.
• Encourage learners to earn industry-recognized credentials and pursue apprenticeship and employment opportunities.
• Collaborate with Tri-Rivers staff and industry partners to keep training aligned with current workforce needs.

Tri-Rivers Career Center Adult Education is seeking an experienced Electrical Instructor to provide hands‑on training in electrical theory, installation, troubleshooting, and safe work practices.

This part‑time position is a great opportunity for an experienced residential, commercial, industrial, or maintenance electrician, or an electrical engineer, who wants to share their expertise while continuing to work in industry. Prior teaching experience is not required. We are looking for someone with strong technical knowledge who can translate real‑world experience into practical, engaging instruction for adult learners.

Job Requirements

What You'll Teach

Depending on the training assignment, instruction may include:

• Electrical safety, OSHA regulations, and NFPA 70E standards
• National Electrical Code (NEC) fundamentals
• AC/DC electrical theory, Ohm's Law, and electrical calculations
• Series and parallel circuits
• Blueprint and schematic interpretation
• Residential, commercial, and industrial wiring methods
• Conduit bending, installation, and raceway systems
• Electrical service installation, panelboards, distribution systems, and transformers
• Motor controls and industrial electrical systems
• Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Proper use of testing instruments, meters, and hand tools

What You'll Do

As a part‑time instructor, you will:

The position also includes participation in applicable staff training, program recruitment and retention efforts, advisory committee meetings, and collaboration with program and administrative staff.

Schedule
