Job description

The Electrical Installation Manager oversees day-to-day low-voltage and instrumentation installation activities on construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, in compliance with applicable electrical codes and client standards, and aligned with project plans. This role serves as the primary field lead for low-voltage subcontractors and instrumentation technicians, providing technical direction, mentoring, and coordination with HBT and client safety teams to drive safe, high-quality installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee low-voltage subcontractor installation of control, instrumentation, and communication circuits, ensuring work meets design specifications, NEC/NFPA requirements, and project quality standards.
  • Perform regular field inspections and audits of low-voltage installations to verify code compliance, workmanship quality, labeling, and adherence to project standards and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Mentor instrumentation technicians in basic circuit theory, point-to-point wiring verification, loop checks, and functional testing of control and instrumentation circuits.
  • Lead troubleshooting activities for low-voltage control and instrumentation circuits, guiding technicians through systematic fault isolation, meter usage, and documentation of findings and corrective actions.
  • Partner with HBT safety and client safety teams to plan and enforce electrical safety practices, including LOTO procedures, arc-flash boundaries, PPE requirements, and energized work restrictions.
  • Conduct and/or participate in toolbox talks, pre-task plans, and job hazard analyses focused on electrical and low-voltage work scopes.
  • Verify site readiness prior to testing and commissioning, ensuring terminations, labeling, grounding, and device installation are complete and documented.
  • Maintain accurate records of installation progress, inspection findings, punch items, and corrective actions; provide routine status updates to project managers and construction managers.
Safety and Compliance Focus
  • Ensure all technical resources follow HBT, client, and regulatory electrical safety protocols at all times, including appropriate PPE, tool usage, and work practices.
  • Verify compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and site-specific standards for low-voltage installations, grounding, bonding, and equipment clearances.
  • Escalate safety concerns promptly, lead immediate corrective actions in the field, and participate in incident investigations as required by HBT and client procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Master Electrician license in at least one of the following states: Wisconsin, Missouri, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, or Alabama (no permits will be pulled on behalf of the company based on license).
  • Prior industrial construction experience with low-voltage systems, control wiring, and instrumentation circuits in manufacturing, process, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and industrial electrical standards, with hands-on experience installing and inspecting low-voltage and control systems.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical plans, one-lines, schematics, loop drawings, and installation details for control and instrumentation systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising electricians, technicians, or subcontractors on active job sites, including coordination of daily work activities.
  • Solid understanding of electrical safety practices, including LOTO, arc-flash, and energized work rules, and experience working with corporate and client safety teams.
  • Strong communication skills for directing field crews, collaborating with project stakeholders, and documenting issues, inspections, and test results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with building automation, industrial controls, or process instrumentation (PLC/DCS/BMS) environments.
  • Background in functional testing, loop checks, and commissioning of control and instrumentation systems on industrial projects.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling and tracking tools (e.g., Smartsheet or similar) to align field activities with project milestones.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or foreman-level role responsible for low-voltage or instrumentation installations.
Work Environment & Expectations
  • Primarily field-based role, spending the majority of time on active construction and industrial sites overseeing installations and technician activities.
  • May support multiple projects or areas within a single large site, requiring strong time management and coordination across crews and subcontractors.
  • Requires flexibility to work around plant and construction schedules, including occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime to meet critical milestones.
