Job summary

Type One Energy seeks an Electrical Engineer – Instrumentation & Control to design and implement control systems for its stellarator technologies. You will develop distributed software, integrate hardware, and support lifecycle activities for advanced scientific equipment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, reliable operation and contribute to CI/CD, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with instrumentation and control systems in complex technical environments.
• Experience with distributed, real-time control systems.
• Proficiency in control software development (C/C++, Python, PLC programming).
• Experience with programming and interfacing with PLCs.
• Knowledge of requirements management and systems engineering practices.
• Experience with version control and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub.
• Experience with lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Develop distributed control software for stellarator systems and subsystems.
• Design and implement instrumentation and control architectures for complex equipment.
• Create comprehensive technical documentation, including design specs and test plans.
• Support requirements lifecycle from development to verification and validation.
• Develop and maintain I&C drivers for a wide range of instrumentation.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline implementation, testing automation, and software quality practices.
• Support system integration, testing, and commissioning of hardware and software components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues during development and operation.
