Job summary

SPATCO DEF, a division of Southern Pump & Tank Co., seeks an electrical helper to assist in the assembly, installation, and testing of electrical equipment used in the petroleum industry. You will work with a team and may travel out of town to job sites, with opportunities to attend in-house training programs to advance knowledge.

Responsibilities include installing conduits, pulling wire, checking safety compliance, and assisting estimators with material take-off.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–3 years working as an electrical apprentice; journeyman card not required.
• Knowledge of electrician standards & codes.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to lift 75–100 lbs.
• Work outside in all types of weather.
• Work under time constraints and with others.
• Follow all company procedures.

• Advise management, customers, and employees about hazards and safe operation of electrical systems.
• Assist estimator with material take-off, material cost, and labor allowances.

Job description

The electrical helper will work on a variety of construction jobs. This position will work within a team and may be required to travel out of town. In this position the electrical helper will be eligible to attend our in-house training programs to advance their current understanding of the construction and/or electrical industry.

Job Duties

• Assist in the assembly, installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical equipment and fixtures used in the petroleum industry.
• Install conduits, pull wire, and make final connections to circuit breakers, petroleum pumps, dispensers, Point of Sale consoles, tank monitors, and petroleum lighting.
• Inspect electrical system and components to verify compliance with safety requirements, codes, project specifications, and manufacturer requirements; verify proper operation of the electrical system.
• Advise management, customers, and employees when hazards are present and when electrical systems are safe to operate.
• Assist estimator with material take-off, material cost, and labor allowances.

Experience, Competencies and Education

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 to 3 years working as an apprentice with an electrical company; a journeyman card is not required.
• Knowledge of electrician standards & codes required.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to lift 75–100 lbs when necessary during the course of performing duties.
• Work outside in all types of weather.
• Work under time constraints efficiently and have the ability to work well with others.
• Follow all company procedures.
