Job summary

SPATCO Energy Solutions in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Electrical Helper to join our construction and installation teams. This entry-level role includes in-house training and opportunities to advance within the electrical field.

Positions may require travel out of town; candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in all weather and lifting heavy items. You will support assembly, installation, and testing of electrical systems for fueling and charging stations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• 2–3 years as an apprentice with an electrical company; journeyman card not required.
• Knowledge of electrician standards & codes.
• Detail oriented and able to communicate clearly.
• Able to lift 75–100 lbs.
• Work outdoors in all weather and meet time constraints.
• Team player committed to company procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment in petroleum industry.
• Install conduits, pull wire and connect to circuit breakers, pumps, dispensers, POS consoles, tank monitors and lighting.
• Inspect electrical systems to ensure safety and code compliance; verify proper operation.
• Advise on hazards and safe operation of electrical systems.
• Assist estimator with material take-off and labor cost estimates.

The electrical helper will work on a variety of constructions jobs. This position will work within a team and may be required to travel out of town.

In this position the electrical helper will be eligible to attend our in-house training programs to advance their current understanding of the construction and/or electrical industry.

Job Duties:

• Assist in the assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and fixtures used in the petroleum industry.
• Install conduits, pull wire and make final connections to circuit breakers, petroleum pumps, dispensers, Point of Sale consoles, tank monitors and petroleum lighting.
• Inspect electrical system and components to verify compliance with safety requirements, codes, project specifications and manufacturer requirements. Verify proper operation of the electrical system.
• Advise management, customers and employees when hazards are present and when electrical systems are safe to operate.
• Assist estimator with material take-off, material cost and labor allowances.

Experience, Competencies and Education:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 2 to 3 years working as an apprentice with an electrical company, no journeyman card needed
• Knowledge of Electrician standards & codes required
• Detail oriented
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to lift 75 –100 lbs when necessary during the course of performing their necessary duties.
• Work outside in all types of weather.
• Work under time constraints efficiently and have the ability to work well with others.
• Follow all company procedures.
