Job summary

AES Corporation in Indianapolis is seeking a Trouble Technician to restore electric service and maintain system reliability. You will perform switching, inspections, and repairs across transmission, distribution, street lighting, and customer premises, while ensuring safety and efficient operation.

The role requires prior certification as a first class A or B lineman, willingness to work shifts and at multiple centers, and a strong focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Applicant must have been a first class A or B lineman or first class A service lineman with previous experience as first class A or B lineman.
• Be willing to work from any of the Company’s operating centers; work any assigned shift; and/or holiday and various scheduled days off.

Responsibilities

• Performs work on the transmission, distribution, street lighting, underground system and customer premises to restore interrupted electric service; removes, clears or guards hazards involving Company facilities; performs manual switching as directed by Dispatchers or supervisor.
• Tests, patrols, inspects, operates, repairs, replaces equipment and lines to maintain safe, continuous operation of Company facilities; repairs street lights and reddy sentinel lights; makes load and voltage tests.
• Emergency and routine switching for putting in and taking out of service lines and equipment; sectionalizing; transfer of lead; restoration of service; provide safe clearance.
• Connects or disconnects customer service; makes repairs on ranges and water heaters; issues follow-up orders for permanent repairs; advises customers on permanent repairs to facilities.
• Operates truck, reads blue prints, climbs towers and poles; maintains good customer relations and keeps stock, tools, safety gear ready; coordinates activities with others for safety and reliability.
