Job summary

Donan Engineering, LLC is seeking a full-time Field Forensic Engineer I (Electrical) to join our Orlando, FL team. The role focuses on forensic analysis across multiple projects, reporting to CTL Engineering Manager, with travel within regional boundaries as needed.

Ideal candidates are PE-licensed, have a relevant bachelor’s degree, and are prepared for continued licensure and professional development, including expert testimony when required.

Qualifications

• Active PE license in the state of application; multi-state licensure preferred.
• Willingness to obtain additional state licensures; fees typically paid by the company.
• Must have or be eligible to obtain the NCEES record in a reasonable time.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Prior forensic experience preferred but not required.
• Prior expert testimony or deposition experience preferred but not required.
• Adaptable with willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
• Highly organized with ability to deliver fast, accurate turnaround times.
• Hands-on engineering experience (structural/mechanical/electrical investigations) preferred.
• Must be able to climb roofs and crawl in tight spaces.
• Must have valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team oriented and service-minded.
• Superior customer service skills.
• Willingness to travel and/or work flexible hours during peak demand.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Willing to work remotely or from a home office.
• Must meet pre-employment physical requirements.
• Reliable high-speed internet for remote work

Responsibilities

• Provides expert forensic analysis to clients on engineering projects.
• Serve as Engineer of Record for Associate Engineers.
• Provide honest, unbiased analysis and consultation on failures.
• May provide appraisals on structures and equipment as needed.
• Travel within assigned regional boundaries; may travel to other regions.
• Meet or exceed established performance metrics.
• Write and submit detailed, accurate reports in a timely manner.
• Communicate timelines and project updates to customers.
• Provide expert testimony or depositions as needed.
• Maintain flexible schedule during peak periods; handle backlog as needed.
• Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Pursue additional training, mentoring, or certifications for advancement.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
