Job summary

DEPCOM Power, part of Koch Engineered Solutions, seeks an Electrical Estimator for Repowering & Restoration to develop detailed cost models for utility-scale solar and BESS projects. You will review design packs, BOMs, and as-built docs to create accurate estimates and manage commercial risk.

The role supports proposal development, collaborates with engineering, procurement, and construction teams, and requires delivering reliable cost data for competitive bids. Remote options may be available.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating electrical construction work for an electrical contractor, EPC contractor, or similar organization.
• Experience evaluating and estimating work on existing facilities where documentation may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unavailable.
• Knowledge of cost estimating best practices, methodologies, and estimating software tools.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs, labor modeling, productivity analysis, vendor quote evaluation, and contingency development.
• Effective communicator who can clearly articulate estimate assumptions, exclusions, risks, and recommendations to both technical and commercial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering documentation, design packages, one-line diagrams, BOMs, and project specs to develop accurate estimates for solar and BESS repowering, restoration, and retrofit projects.
• Develop detailed bottoms-up cost estimates for labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, rentals, mobilization, and other project costs.
• Review as-built documentation and perform quantity takeoffs for restoration and brownfield upgrade projects.
• Perform electrical takeoffs from engineering design packages and field documentation.
• Develop estimate assumptions, exclusions, allowances, escalation factors, and contingency strategies to manage commercial risk.
• Partner with project development, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to validate scope assumptions and identify project risks prior to proposal submission.
• Develop and maintain material, equipment, labor, and productivity databases by partnering with procurement and execution teams.
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive and accurate project cost models.
• Conduct site visits and collaborate with subject matter experts to assess existing conditions and develop accurate project scopes and cost estimates.
• Lead the integration of actual project costs, execution feedback, and lessons learned into estimating methodologies to continuously improve estimating accuracy and proposal quality.
• Support proposal development activities, customer-facing discussions, and internal estimate reviews.
