Job summary

Service Electric Company in Maryland is looking for an Estimator to join our team and collaborate with clients, vendors and internal staff to prepare bids for electrical projects. You will manage RFPs, takeoffs, and schedule planning to help maximize profitability and workforce efficiency.

The role requires 3+ years of estimating experience in electrical construction, strong Excel skills, and meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of estimating experience in electrical construction.
• Strong experience in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Underground electrical work experience preferred.
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and conduct oneself professionally.
• Ability to conduct oneself as a representative of SEC in a diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
• Collaborate with Lead and Senior Estimators to prepare documents for legal review.
• Identify bid type and scope, construction timeframes, materials, and labor expenses, and bonding and bid requirements.
• Travel to pre-bid meetings and/or jobsites; travel may be with a senior member or independently.
• Identify potential project risks and discuss with estimators.
• Make recommendations on subcontractors and materials and gather quotes.
• Perform takeoffs and build project/construction plans including supporting documentation.
• Finalize schedule/work plan with estimators and clarify expectations.
• Complete bid forms and submit final bid with leadership approval.
• Maintain bid logs and assist with labor/equipment rate schedules.
• Collaborate with Project Management and Field Leadership to set up the job.
• Other duties as assigned.
