Job summary

Five Star Electric Corp., a Tutor Perini Company, seeks an Electrical Estimator for our corporate office in Ozone Park, NY. The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for varied electrical construction projects and guiding bids from plan review through proposal documentation.

Responsibilities include detailed quantity takeoffs, pricing solicitation, and risk analysis to ensure competitive, compliant bids.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of electrical estimating experience.
• Knowledge of NEC requirements and construction practices.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience with detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, Bluebeam, or similar.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract documents.
• Perform detailed electrical quantity takeoffs for power, lighting, fire alarm, communications, and low-voltage systems.
• Develop labor, material, and equipment cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare bid summaries and proposal documentation.
• Analyze project risks, scope gaps, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
• Assist with preparing bid packages for public and private sector projects.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and vendor relationships.
• Coordinate with operations and project management teams to develop competitive pricing strategies.
• Support project turnover activities following contract award.
