Interstates in Iowa is seeking an Electrical Estimator II to turn drawings and project goals into competitive estimates for data center telecom and fiber projects. You’ll collaborate with clients, vendors, engineers, and field teams from bid through handoff.

The role emphasizes strategic estimating, risk identification, and continuous improvement of tools and processes. Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of electrical estimating experience and a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Approximately 2–3 years of electrical estimating experience or related experience in electrical construction, telecom, fiber, structured cabling, or data center work.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• A collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take ownership.

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate, competitive estimates using Interstates’ tools and systems.
• Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements to define scope and pricing.
• Estimate work related to data center telecom, fiber, structured cabling, pathways, and related infrastructure, as applicable.
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, constructability concerns, and value opportunities.
• Partner with clients, vendors, engineers, project managers, and field teams to develop practical project solutions.
• Support proposal development, bid strategy, and client presentations.
• Assist with contract reviews, negotiations, and project handoff to execution teams.
• Support change orders and cost-to-complete estimates on active projects.
