Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an entry-level Estimator to assist with preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates and detail estimates for smaller projects. You will perform material take-offs, analyze drawings and price units, maintaining project documentation for future use.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Construction Management or Engineering (or equivalent), possess strong Excel/Word skills, and can read specifications and drawings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred or equivalent.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and analytical ability.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings.
• Basic knowledge of construction costs and principles.
• Competent Excel and Word skills; familiarity with Accubid is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with analyses of drawings and perform material take-offs for estimates.
• Support development of budgets, conceptual and detail estimates for small projects.
• Track quantities, resolve discrepancies, and maintain estimate documents.
• Research historical cost data and keep cost databases current.
• Provide internal managers with timely responses to basic questions.
